About K. Korpi

Background

I am a sound designer and editor for podcasts, theater, and audio projects. I found my way into the world of sound through an amazing mentor at the U of M while working on my BA in theater back in 2016. Since then, I have worked freelance in theatrical sound design in the Twin Cities and surrounding area. In 2021 I got my AS in Sound Arts from Minneapolis College, after which I dove into the world of podcast audio. I worked for a podcast media startup for two years, starting from cutting up dialogue files and moving up to creating sound designs for whole scenes and episodes (along with an incredible team). I have decided now to venture out on my own and see where this new path takes me.

Creative Vision

I am drawn to audio through my lifelong love of stories and storytelling. One of the most fulfilling things I have experienced in life is being able to make art that is immersive, thought-provoking, and meaningful to its audience. My goal is to bring you into the moment, make you feel something, and maybe even open you up to new a perspective. This is what drives me and fuels the passion behind all of my work, even the most mundane parts and the tiniest adjustments.

Who Should Hire Me?

My work is small-scale (it’s just me!) and, relative to the industry, slow-paced (though don’t get me wrong, I am great with a deadline!). I want you to have the very best outcome and I will take the time we have allotted to make thoughtful and meaningful choices. Whether I am creating soundscapes for a whole series or simply taking out the pauses in your interview MP3, you can be assured that it will be done with care.

I am passionate about working one-on-one with my clients to really understand what you need! I want to work with people who are interested in quality over quantity, have bright ideas, and want to put their money towards small, queer-owned businesses like mine.

If that sounds like you, let’s talk! I can’t wait to hear from you.
